Duma Top Access Plenum
The Duma Top Access Plenum (DTAP) is a high-capacity tubular baghouse filter unit designed for demanding dust extraction applications. The DTAP system features vertically mounted filter bags (“socks”) with integrated snap-band fittings for secure, reliable installation.
Each filter bag is supported by an internal cage and mounted onto a cell plate, creating an effective seal between the clean air and dust-laden air chambers. For ease of maintenance, filter bags are accessible and removable from the top of the unit via dedicated access doors.
Safety handrails are fitted along the top platform, ensuring safe and convenient access during inspection and servicing.
A high-performance suction fan is installed at the base of the unit, drawing dust-laden air across the outer surface of the filter bags. Dust accumulation is automatically removed via an integrated reverse pulse cleaning system, ensuring continuous and efficient operation.
Collected dust is discharged through a hopper system and can be handled via:
- Screw conveyors
- Rotary valves
- Collection bins

FILTER UNIT SIZES
Thanks to its modular design, the DTAP Filter Unit is available in a wide range of configurations to suit various applications:
- Filter Area: 60 m² to 1037 m²
- Airflow Capacity: 6,000 m³/hr to 109,000 m³/hr
Filter bag diameters and lengths can be customised based on customer requirements and site constraints. The modular construction also allows for easy transportation and installation.
FAN SPECIFICATIONS
Fans are mounted at the base of the filter unit and are engineered for optimal performance and energy efficiency.
- Motor Power Range: 22 kW to 132 kW
- Impeller Types: Backward curved or backward inclined
These high-efficiency impellers reduce energy consumption while maintaining superior airflow performance.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Dust-laden air enters the hopper section at the bottom of the filter unit and is drawn upward toward the clean air chamber.
As air passes through the filter media:
- Fine dust particles are captured on the outer surface of the filter bags
- Clean air passes through the bags and is discharged to atmosphere via the fan
To ensure uninterrupted operation, the filter bags are automatically cleaned using a reverse pulse jet system.
This process involves:
- A short burst of high-pressure compressed air injected into the filter bags
- Temporary reversal of airflow
- Expansion of the filter bag to dislodge accumulated dust (“dust cake”)
The dislodged dust falls into the hopper below, where it is either stored or continuously discharged via a screw conveyor and/or rotary valve.

RETROFIT SOLUTIONS
Retrofit solutions are available for upgrading existing shaker-type bag filters.
The DTAP system’s top section, including the cell plate and pulse cleaning controls, can be integrated into existing units—significantly improving performance and efficiency.
These upgrades have been successfully implemented across various industries, particularly in the cement sector.
